Welcome to what is an insight into our family-run smallholding on Anglesey, North Wales, dedicated to raising high-quality pedigree Blue Texel Sheep which are part of the Trisant Flock, established in 2021.

The Blue Texels are a popular breed known for their striking blue-grey wool and excellent meat quality.

We fell in love with the breed several years ago and have been working hard to find the right breeding to set up our flock ever since.

Today, we are proud to have a small but healthy,  thriving flock of Pedigree MV Blue Texels that we care for with the utmost attention and dedication.

WHY GO BLUE..?

There are several reasons why a farmer or breeder might choose to include Blue Texel genetics in their breeding program. Some of the benefits include:

1.png

Fertility: Blue Texels are known for their high fertility and good mothering abilities, which can help improve the overall productivity of a flock.

2.png

Conformation: Blue Texels have good conformation and are known for their strong legs and feet, which can help improve the structural soundness of their offspring.

3.png

Meat quality: Blue Texels have a lean, meaty carcass with good meat-to-bone ratio, which makes them well-suited for meat production.

6.png

Fleece quality: Blue Texels have a fine, dense fleece that is highly sought-after by wool processors and spinners.

Adaptability: Blue Texels are well-adapted to a variety of environments and can thrive in both pasture-based and confinement systems.

Overall, the use of a Blue Texel ram can help improve the genetic potential of a flock and contribute to the success of a sheep operation.

CLASS OF TWENTY TWENTY TWO...

We were delighted that we had great crop of Blue Texel lambs this year. These stylish and correct animals are the result of our successful embryo transfer program, which allows us to carefully plan and select the traits and characteristics of our future lambs. We are thrilled with the results of this year's crop and are confident that these lambs will go on to have successful careers in the show ring or as breeding animals.

TRISANT GOODFELLA ET

Goodfella lived up to his name at the 2022 NSA sale at Builth where he stood Champion Male and Reserve Overall Champion. A very correct and thick lamb with great colouring made him an excellent example of the breed. Goodfella later sold to the renowned Welsh Blue Texel breeder Iwan Arfon Hughes of Garndolbenmaen.

TRISANT GLORY HUNTER ET

Trisant Glory Hunter really did take up all the glory this year amongst the Trisant Flock. With exceptional muscling and tight skin, a few breeders took an interest in him as he was placed 3rd at the Summer Carlisle Blue Texel Sale. He was knocked down to Ali Dodd, Cumbria for 3500gns.

TRISANT GLICIOUS II

G-licious II, out of Derg Flashy and very much like her mother was our father's favourite and the decision was made to retain her for future breeding within the flock. We look forward to see what she produces over the next few years.

TRISANT GLORIOUS

Glorious, out of Deg Flashy showed great character and power from day one. She headed to St Asaph, Jones Peckover where she stood second to the Champion Female and was later sold to Mrs Alison Oare, Brynford, Hollywell for the Top Female Price of the day,

TRISANT GIGGLES

Gigglges brought us a lot of fun at the 2022 Builth NSA where she stood Reserve female champion. She was then sold to Jac Issac, Wales. We wish him the best of luck. We're confident she'll breed very well.

TRISANT GROOVY

Trisant Groovy was the real deal. Great colours and confirmation and was also sold at Carlisle for 1700gns. He was jointly purchased by the Budgate and Isla's Flocks and has been performing well thus far.

TRISANT GODFATHER

The Godfather was one of our favourites from birth. With excellent frame and size, he was a big boy! He joined the show team and was successful throughout the summer in many shows, picking up Champion Male a couple of times as well as being part of the RWAS Interbreed Group of three. He also stood third in a very strong class of ram lambs at the RWAS.

TRISANT GOLIATH

Shown successfully throughout the summer Goliath was spotted by the Scottish breeder Blair Dufton and was sold privately up to Scotland for a four figure sum. Some woolly socks were made and off he went!!

G-licious was the first lamb born this year and has always been our number one. She was part of the 2022 summer show team and has a few red rosettes under her hat. G-licious stood third in a very strong class at Carlisle in September and was then sold to the Cormack Family Ayrshire for 2000gns.

CAMERA SHY...

We are excited to announce that we are retaining a few lambs for breeding on our farm this year. These animals have shown great potential and we believe they will be valuable additions to our breeding program.

However, we regret to inform you that these animals are quite camera shy and we are unable to provide any photos at this time.

Please stay tuned for further updates and follow us on social media to stay up-to-date on all the latest happenings.
